Day 11 7\/8\/12<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today we flew\/drove solo.\u00a0 We went down the road, past the airport to Playa Bonfil.\u00a0 Quite a different beach from outside the condo or Pie de la Questa.\u00a0 This is one of the stops for surfers that conquer the east coast.\u00a0 There were a few but not very good surfers; more floundering rather than surfing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here you could actually swim and retain your bathing suit except for the occasional rouge wave.\u00a0 Cheap beer, palapas, hammocks and a trio of senioritas with hula-hoops.\u00a0 Decent eye candy for my single amigos.\u00a0 I brought my candy with me.\u00a0 We killed several hours here then headed back for a nap around 4.\u00a0 Cecillio tried to wake us but evidently we were in a sun induced coma.\u00a0 Before the sun set we walked down the main boulevard and discovered an excellent steak house that, unfortunately, didn\u2019t serve wine.\u00a0 Que weird.\u00a0 No problemo.\u00a0 We indulged in vodka martinis and, contrary to my usually demeanor, ordered some very rare cuts of meat with chimichurri sauce. Sharon\u2019s was cut, marinated and cooked table side, with each medallion cooked as she finished the previous. Killer, and considerably less expensive than I thought it would be.\u00a0Actually, down right cheap… if it wasn\u2019t for the vodka.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 12. 7\/9\/12
Again, started the day trying to find \u201cthe guy\u201d that gave me the interview several years ago and once again, no luck.\u00a0 He\u2019s got a great government job.\u00a0 Cecillio and his girlfriend picked us up there and we drove through Old Acapulco and then up the mountain to his family\u2019s house.\u00a0 His daughter Arianna and a friend proceeded to push Johnny Walker and soda in our general direction.\u00a0 Somehow during this Cecillio disappeared, only to return with a Tupperware full of \u201cmeat stuff\u201d.\u00a0 Mighty tasty with a fresh tortilla and some of Arianna\u2019s homemade salsa.\u00a0 During Cecillio\u2019s disappearing act he dropped Esmerelda off somewhere, so the three of us went to \u201cWillmort\u2019s International\u201d.\u00a0 That\u2019s just what we call it.\u00a0 Willmort is one \u201crico y suave\u201d guy with a tiny 55 gallon drum kitchen in a grubby neighborhood market.\u00a0 Super friendly dude with a baritone\/tenor\u00a0 voice, (Imagine Placido Domingo, drunk, belting out \u201cDonnie Boy!)\u00a0 Otherwise he talks so fast that we are clueless as to anything we are asked.\u00a0 But his personality just made you say, \u201cSure!\u201d\u00a0 We watched him cook up chuletas (pork chops), cactus leaves and a roasted onion for a customer which he ended up giving half of it to us.\u00a0 Oh, and 9 alarm salsa.\u00a0 He introduced us to a variety of nearby folks who spontaneously cracked open several quarts of Corona, (probably because they knew about his salsa), and \u201cpoof\u201d, party on the patio. We stole a few recipes for our next party.\u00a0 We returned to the condo for a short nap, but in minutes were awakened by Cecillio, Esmerelda and her daughter Pricilla.\u00a0 Cecillio sparked up a cigar I bought him a few days earlier and we all talked away the evening with the bay of Acapulco in the background. It was an early evening with our friends due to Cecellio leaving for Austin,Texas in the early morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 13. 7\/10\/12
We started with a laid back morning in the condo because today Donnie finally has an appointment with the guy he\u2019s been tracking down for days. Crossing the\u201cmalecon\u201d from our hotel (this is quite the wake up call, considering the fast traffic).\u00a0 \u00a0We caught the bus to the Mexican Cultural Center and met with Benjamin, “The Guy”. The cultural center is a parking lot with a few wrecked trucks, some office buildings and a lot of people who stand around collecting government pay. Someone besides the gate attendant must work here but we didn\u2019t see them.\u00a0 After filming for about 45 minutes we were off again. This time to \u201cLa Quebrada\u201d (cliff divers). You can\u2019t go to Acapulco and not see this show. Well as it happens luckily We\u2019ve seen this show before because the bus hit the end of the line and boom we\u2019re off the bus and walking into neighborhoods that were a little seedy. We turned around and walked a couple miles and returned to the yacht club. This is the fun of not knowing the language very well and a good excuse for cold beer. Along with the cold beer came a small surprise of unusual sauces. We had chips with mango, coconut, avocado, chilis and one, well, we didn\u2019t know what it was. They were all very tasty and served cold. YUM. It\u2019s about 4 o\u2019clock so back to the condo for a nap and the beach after dinner.\u00a0 Mas tarde\u2026<\/p>\n
