June 2 \u2013 Well, after all this relocating jazz, we didn\u2019t stray too far.  In fact we mostly napped.  Same goes for tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

June 4 \u2013 Enough laziness.  We loaded up the car and headed north to Puerto Morelos and straight to Restaurant Ojo de Agua where we found Mario and Sherry.  Mario owns the infamous Neptuno 2000, (a snorkel boat) and Sherry works at the restaurant.  They remembered us from the past summer.  So after an hour of talking and beering we cruised out to the reef.  Once back, Sharon and I walked to the Habinero Grill for 2 x 1 margaritas and burgers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

June 5 \u2013 We took our time getting started this morning.  Went by to see Rod and before we knew it he was showing us condos that were for sell; one real beauty and one that looked like a project gone bad.  After condo shopping we bought a half dozen gourmet cupcakes, picked up Gian Carlo and headed to his house.  Gian Carlo is married to Rachel (very pregnant) who is the youngest daughter of my friend Cecillio, in case you were wondering.  They live in a very nice, gated neighborhood south of town. We chatted while their live-in nanny whipped up some chicken enchiladas in chile verde.  After brunch we walked across the street to the commons area and sat under a huge palapa snacking on papaya, mango, and a variety of melons. Their young son, Emiliano, whipped out the card game \u201cUno\u201d so we all played a couple of rounds. Emiliano is a cool kid. He and I passed a couple of cards under the table and generally messed with everyone else.  We said our goodbyes before sundown and made it back to the condos to watch Lebron James complain about the heat and lack of available fresh bananas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

June 6 \u2013 Another driving day.  We stopped for supplies at the local Mega Mart and headed south toward Tulum, cracked open a funny tasting beer then quickly pulled over for more supplies. Sharon bought \u201ccero\u201d cerveza. Now she knows that means non-alcoholic. Luckily we opened one before we hit the deserted beach road that lay ahead. So a number of years ago we wandered toward a town called Punta Allen. We went halfway and turned around thinking we were lost. We were not. So We\u2019ve always wanted to return to see this point of land that sends you out to open seas. Starting out on the same road (which by the way has not had any improvements) we drove through pot holes, large deep water puddles and lots of jungle. It wasn\u2019t all bad there were birds, lizards and many beautiful views of ocean and beach. Soooo, 52kilometers and 4 hrs later we arrive at the village of about 467 residents,2 restraurants plus the population of 200 jeep tour gringos. Quick turn around,small expensive lunch at a little hotel and 4 more hours of driving home. Oh by the way the point was so crowded with little houses that we never did see the open sea. It was an adventure that the car will not soon forget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

June 7 \u2013 The goal today\u2026 Find a car wash!  The car wash guys shivered as my clay covered Element pulled up.  One hour and 100lbs of dirt later, we headed back to the condo.  Let\u2019s take a break today.  After a nap filled afternoon we waited for the sun to go down, showered up, dressed up a bit and hit 5th Ave. in search of a nice dinner.  Success was found amongst waterfalls, torches and wild flora.  Pesca Veracruz, a Mayan take on lasagna and a bottle of red wine.  Gastronomic glory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

June 8 \u2013 Out early today as we head north through Cancun city to Puerto Juarez to catch a ferry to Isla Mujeres.  Once on the island, we rented a gas powered golf cart contraption.  Top speed\u2026 snail.  So we leisurely took an island tour then ended up at a beach club near the Southern tip.  Iguanas big and small were everywhere.  We had a couple of cold beers and quesadillas then snorkeled in the lively, crystal clear turquoise water.  Lots of fish that swam almost uncomfortably close, star fish, rays.  It was quite a pleasant afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
