June 9 – 13  – Ok, I’ve officially lost track but we have basically fallen into a vacation pattern of one day on, one day off.  I think on the 9th we started late morning to buy a few souvenirs for the grand kids and within minutes the time would be better spent back in the shady part of the condos pool.  It was.  Load the ice chest with libations, a cool dip and before you know it, we had wasted a day, in comfort.

Next day we made the trek to Akumal.  Write that one down if you ever wish to visit this area but are too afraid due to hyper media coverage.  Akumal pre-dates Cancun or Playa or anything you’ve heard about the Yucatan, except for the Mayans.  Plus it is nothing like the afore mentioned cities.  Tucked way back in the recesses of Akumal is Yal Ku, a fabulous protected cove where fresh water meets salt.  Maximum depth is about ten feet and the growth and variety is splendid.

We broke our trend and spent two more days off by the pool with the ice chest.  On the 12th we met Rod and his lovely wife, Jennifer, for dinner.  Dinner and conversation were great along with the Spurs in the background as they halved and quartered the Heat to go up 3 games to 1.

Today, Friday the 13th, was the best day of diving Sharon and I have ever experienced. 6 or 7 turtles the size of my wife, a huge sting ray, massive schools of tropical fish and a squirrel or two.  After this excellent afternoon we made it back to the condo and languished (again) in the pool.  At sun set, we walked a few blocks and picked up a pretty damn good pizza, to go, stopped at a little wine store and had our pizza and wine in the comfort of our little condo.  It was an excellent day.

Just kidding about the squirrels.  Just wanted to see if you were paying attention.
